Repress of Scorpion Child's debut album.
“Scorpion Child sound like a band who aren’t willing to make concessions, nor to strive for some niche appeal. They want the heaviness, the fire and the speed but they aren’t willing to sacrifice a good hook for it, and nor should they. Already, they are showing that they are more than adept at handling this fine balance while delivering the goods, and perhaps this is the most 70s thing about them. It was a time when even major rock bands played with prog, psychedelia, funk and blues, something lost when the 80s and hair metal came around, and this Texan quintet carry this torch proudly.” - Sleeping Shaman
Infused with the bluesy swagger and the semi-mystic, thunderous kick-drum assault of iconic bands like Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Rainbow, and Black Sabbath, hard-hitting Austin, Texas-based quintet Scorpion Child offer up a heady mix of classic rock, old-school heavy metal, and Southwest-kissed psych-rock.
Formed in 2010 around the talents of guitarists Chris Cowart and Tom "The Mole" Frank, bassist Shaun Avants, drummer Shawn Alvear, and frontman Aryn Jonathan Black, the band eventually inked a deal with Nuclear Blast, which issued their eponymous full-length debut in 2013.
The following year saw the departures of Frank and Alvear, with ex-Job for a Cowboy drummer Jon "The Charn" Rice joining the ranks. In 2015, the band added organist AJ Vincent to the lineup and began recording their sophomore studio long-player, Acid Roulette, which dropped in June 2016. - by James Christopher Monger
In 2025 the band released the latest album "I Saw The End As It Passed Right Through Me".
