Echodelick Records and Sound Effect Records are proud to announce a 2026 vinyl edition of U.S. Christmas - Run Thick in the Night, the sprawling fourth album from the North Carolina psychedelic rock collective.
Originally released in 2010 by Neurot Recordings, Run Thick in the Night found U.S. Christmas pushing their heavy, hypnotic sound further outward - drawing together psychedelic rock, space rock, Appalachian atmosphere, folk, drone and expansive improvisation into one of the band's most ambitious recordings. Formed in the mountains of western North Carolina, U.S. Christmas developed a sound deeply connected to both their surroundings and the exploratory side of heavy music. Rather than relying solely on volume and weight, the band created long-form music that could move from quiet, spacious passages into enormous walls of sound, often feeling less like conventional songs and more like journeys. Run Thick in the Night captures that approach at full scale.
Across 13 tracks and more than 75 minutes, the album moves through slow-burning psychedelia, atmospheric folk, dense guitar textures, kosmische repetition and towering heavy-rock passages. Tracks unfold patiently, allowing melodies, rhythms and drones to build and transform rather than rushing toward traditional structures. Recorded with Sanford Parker, the album expanded the sonic palette U.S. Christmas had established on their earlier releases while retaining the raw, communal character at the center of the band. For this new edition, the album has been remastered by John McBain (Monster Magnet, Wellwater Conspiracy), bringing renewed depth and detail to a record built around atmosphere, dynamics and sheer physical sound.
More than fifteen years after its original release, Run Thick in the Night remains a singular entry in the U.S. Christmas catalog - an album rooted in the Appalachian landscape but reaching far beyond it. The new vinyl edition will be released jointly by Echodelick Records in the United States and Sound Effect Records in Europe.
