Steve Hillman has been shaping sound worlds since the 1970s, moving freely between electronic music, synth rock, progressive structures, jazz elements and orchestral soundtrack work. Across decades, his output has remained fluid and exploratory, driven more by atmosphere and texture than by genre boundaries.
His most recent project, The Trance Dimensionals, brings that mindset into the realm of space rock. Formed together with the late Nik Turner, founding member of Hawkwind, the project channels cosmic repetition, hypnotic momentum and an open, improvisational spirit. Rather than revisiting familiar formulas, the music expands outward, balancing propulsion and drift in equal measure.
At its core, The Trance Dimensionals feels like a continuation of Hillman’s long-standing fascination with sonic travel — music built to unfold, pulse and resonate, guided by experience rather than nostalgia.
