With Stoned Villains, Turin’s doom-sludge institution TONS return with their fourth full-length — heavier, filthier and more self-aware than ever. Seven tracks of sulfurous, weed-soaked doom collide with the hardcore DNA of the early 2000s Turin scene, where the band’s roots were forged. This is slow, crushing music with teeth: massive guitars, a seismic rhythm section, and Gingerzilla’s unmistakable bark delivering tales of excess, irony and unapologetic indulgence.
The band’s sound is instantly recognizable — a blend of ’90s-bred doom sludge and hardcore aggression, stripped of pretense and driven by groove. Stoned Villains doesn’t aim for subtlety; instead it embraces blunt force riffs, grimy tones and a sense of humor that runs as thick as the smoke. TONS have never taken themselves too seriously, and that attitude remains one of their strongest weapons.
Formed in 2009 by members of Turin hardcore bands such as The Redrum, Lama Tematica and NoInfo, TONS have steadily carved out their place in the European underground. Over the years they’ve shared stages with Bongzilla, Unsane, Church of Misery, Napalm Death and Pentagram, while appearing at key festivals including Desertfest, Sonic Blast and HPS Fest. Following Hashension (2022) and a split with Bongzilla, Stoned Villains marks the next chapter — heavier, sharper, and fully locked in, ahead of its release and upcoming tours.
