Born in Los Angeles, guitarist and vocalist Jasso has been forging his own strain of psychedelic noise rock since 2001. After early work with The Antarcticans, he shifted focus with OGOD (Over-Gain Optimal Death), pushing forward guitar experimentation and lyrical intensitywithin a rock formula and embraced a raw, instinctive approach to sound,favoring spontaneity, power and emotional weight over structure. Across the years, Jasso has collaborated with key figures in the Japanese underground, including working with Kawabata Makoto and performing as part of the trio Psychedelic Speed Freaks. For him, psychedelic music became a medium for grappling with unanswerable questions through sound distortion and cathartic words.
This ethos and quest to further experimentation led to this new collaboration with UK guitarist Mike Vest. Sharing parallel paths in their work with Japanese psychedelic musicians, their partnership felt inevitable. Rather than deliver the expected heavy psych freakout, they opted for something more direct and confrontational.
The result is the project Non Violence, the album: “Lifted Curse”, a six-track blast of noise rock focused not on mysticism and psych tropes, but instead on psychological depth. The album rips through raw male emotion—fraternity, loss, lust, creation, and death. Jassoʼs lyrics read like an unfiltered journal mid burnout, Vestʼs swirling, savant-garde guitars create a tension with Jassoʼs own guitars and Snedʼs rocksteady grooves forms a fistfight of harmony and dissonance.
