Ohio’s long-running underground outfit Fistula return with Galaxies of Disappointment, their eleventh full-length since forming in 1998. The album delivers the band’s familiar blend of raw punk aggression, grimy sludge and nihilistic doom, built around acidic fuzz guitars, pounding drums and corrosive vocals.
Across seven tracks, the band shifts between mid-tempo heaviness and slower, crawling sludge passages, keeping the songs direct and stripped down while maintaining a constant sense of tension. The sound balances noisy, abrasive punk energy with thick, low-end weight, recalling the harsh intensity associated with acts such as Dystopia.
Much of the material was written during a period when the band stepped back from live activity, capturing a raw and unfiltered snapshot of that time. With Corey Bing as the only remaining original member, the group now returns with a refreshed lineup while continuing the uncompromising sound that has defined Fistula for more than two decades.
