Formed in 2008 in the rougher corners of Montreal's Hochelaga district, Dopethrone quickly carved out their own lane within the sludge and doom underground. Their sound blends the bleak atmosphere of black metal with the thick, swampy weight of New Orleans-style sludge and a crushing doom mentality that rarely lets up.

Hochelaga captures the band in their most feral and uncompromising form. The riffs are dense and suffocating, built on slow, punishing grooves that feel as corrosive as they are hypnotic. Over the top, raw and demonic vocals push the intensity even further, giving the whole record a harsh, visceral edge. The result is a record that sits comfortably in the darker end of the sludge spectrum – oppressive, filthy and relentlessly heavy.

Back on vinyl after seven years, this reissue brings back the release that originally marked the beginning of a long-standing collaboration with the band and completes the recent catalogue repress series.

Limited vinyl editions include the “Reverb Deep” coloured version on marbled green/yellow/black vinyl (200 copies) and a classic black vinyl pressing limited to 500 copies.
