Wormwood - Are we doomed or is there hope?
Wormwood, the 4th album from heavy-psych outfit Cracked Machine takes its inspiration from the plant and star of the same name. The eight instrumental tracks draw on the myths of many cultures which associate Wormwood with madness and the end of the world.
The album tells a story which weaves between themes of darkness and light, destruction and salvation, despair and hope. Stoner infused heavy-psychedelic grooves create a palette of texture which allow the themes to grow organically and invade the senses.
“We wanted to create a soundtrack to the crazy world we find ourselves in; asking questions, exploring the biggest themes, but ultimately offering a chance of optimism”.
PRESS
"UK trio Cracked Machine, Bill Denton (guitar/synths); Chris Sutton (bass) and Gary Martin (drums) jam instrumental grooves..., a swirling soaring blend of heavy psych, lysergic post rock and space that inhabits the sort of territories bands like Colour Haze, Causa Sui, Yawning Man and My Brother the Wind have made their home. This year the band release their fourth album "Wormwood" a collection of eight breath-taking soundscapes that will take you to places you didn't know you wanted to go to until you arrived there." - Desert Psychlist
"Without losing the essence shown in their first albums, CRACKED MACHINE delves into the depths of psycho-progressive spaces and post-rock in their most complex album so far... Drinking in equal parts from the source of post-rock, as from the spring of desert rock, the psychedelia of the British acquires its own personality through these striking progressive developments." - Roberto Lucas (Denpa Fuzz)
"Cracked Machine have delivered the goods yet again with Wormwood to prove why they’re one of the essential Instrumental Rock bands the UK has right now." - Outlaws Of The Sun
