"Electrisol finds Saggar at his most diverse and whimsical, drawing from psychedelic folk and kosmische electronics, dub wise production and shoe gaze textures, with luminous ambient melodies hovering over a deep, rhythmically charged low end that call to mind the exploratory spirits of Cluster and Dub Syndicate. The thrum of "Africa Cup Of Nations" fades into the Laraaji-esque "Palidena", then resurges amid the acidic synths of "Mind Melt" and the clipped electronic beats of "Om Gong". The album's latter half offers one of Bhajan Bhoy's most delightful highlights via the riddims of "Desert Techno Club". This, and his previous two albums, reveal an artist hitting his stride"(THE WIRE / October 2026)
There are records that feel assembled, and there are records that feel discovered. Electrisol, the latest transmission from Ajay Saggar's Bhajan Bhoy project, belongs firmly in the latter category. It arrives like a weather system drifting in from some uncharted zone where psychedelic folk, dub science, kosmische electronics, shoegaze drift and field-recorded ghosts all coexist in a strange but entirely logical ecosystem.
Over the last decade, Bhajan Bhoy has quietly built one of the most distinctive catalogues in contemporary underground psychedelia. Each release has expanded the map a little further, tracing pathways between meditative repetition, exploratory improvisation and deeply immersive sonic architecture. But Electrisol feels different. Not a departure, exactly, more a deepening of intent. The lens is sharper. The colours are brighter. The low end reaches further into the earth while the melodies stretch further toward the clouds.
What emerges is perhaps the most complete expression yet of Saggar's singular vision. Across the album's duration, rhythmic currents pulse beneath layers of luminous guitar figures, drifting synthesizer textures and dub-inflected spatial manipulations. Sounds appear, dissolve and re-emerge in altered forms. Melodies interlock like moving pieces of kinetic sculpture. Echoes bloom, decay and leave trails across vast imaginary landscapes. The music feels simultaneously intimate and panoramic; handcrafted and cosmic. What distinguishes Bhajan Bhoy from many contemporary explorers of similar terrain is the absence of nostalgia. This isn't an exercise in recreating favourite records from the past. It feels more like an ongoing investigation into what those records were searching for in the first place. Every track carries a sense of genuine curiosity. Nothing feels settled. Nothing feels finished. The music remains in motion.
Ajay himself was surprised by what emerged from the process. "Many weeks after the whole process of recording, mixing and mastering the album was completed, I took the time to really LISTEN to the album, and I was quietly blown away by what I heard. It felt I was listening to an album that Brian Eno might have made had he recorded with Adrian Sherwood at the On-U-Sound studio! Some of the tracks carry heavy dub-wise rhythms laced with beautiful ambient melodies. Other tracks shimmer and float in their own sonic celestial universe. It's a beautifully diverse album, and one which reflects the joy I have in making and creating new songs and ideas in my studio… it's my playground / laboratory for sure."
That sense of discovery permeates every groove. Rather than presenting a fixed destination, Electrisol invites listeners into an ongoing process of exploration. It is music made by someone still fascinated by sound itself—its textures, its possibilities, its ability to alter perception. Released jointly by two labels with impeccable pedigrees for championing outsider visionaries and boundary-pushing sounds - Cardinal Fuzz in the UK and Feeding Tube Records in the USA, Electrisol stands as another significant waypoint in the continuing evolution of Bhajan Bhoy. A record for headphone voyagers, late-night wanderers, deep listeners and anyone still convinced that music can open doors to places they didn't know existed.
