The Canadian duo loosely frame their approach as a kind of “mantra rock” — not in a mystical sense, but in the way their music evolves through repetition, variation, and gradual transformation. Rather than following fixed song structures, pieces unfold through the constant addition and subtraction of motifs, creating a shifting, almost mechanical flow that feels both precise and unstable.
At the core of this process is real-time layering: using live looping, multiple melodic lines are recorded and reshaped on the fly. Microtonal guitar and bass phrases — often moving in quarter tones — interlock in angular, chromatic patterns, while the drums act as a grounding element, guiding transitions and controlling intensity within the flux.
Following the raw and exploratory Vol. 1 (2024), Vol. II presents a more focused and cohesive version of this system — tighter in execution, but still deliberately resistant to conventional structure. A controlled imbalance, sharpened rather than resolved.
