The psychedelic rock trio, named after an Anatolian folk story, was established in 2016 in Istanbul by Cihan Önder on guitars and synthesizer, Memet Emre Açıkgöz on bass guitar, and Tayfun Gür on drums.
Fusing Anatolian themes with psychedelic elements, their music weaves intricate tales with multipart compositions expansive drones, fluid riffs and eclectic motifs that take the listener on a captivating journey.
During their stage performances, the band creates a dynamic atmosphere with experimental multi-layered themes, live loops, and hypnotic visuals. In 2016, Congulus released an eight-track demo titled “Kış Ayının Kabusu” and an online video series called “Demirci Sessions” in 2017.
The band's debut album, “Bozkır,” was launched in 2019 under Venüs Müzik and later they signed with Nasoni Records Berlin to release the “Bozkır” DLP featuring two bonus tracks.
The band released two digital singles, “Meteoroid” in 2019 and “Karakura” in 2020. The current lineup solidified when Fatih Can Oklay joined on bass.
In 2021, the band released the “Tılsım” EP in both digital and vinyl formats through Nasoni Records. After a triplet of singles through the first half of the year, Congulus released their second album “Göçebe” in 2024.
